Built by Design was born from a shared belief between husband and wife that luxury remodeling should feel personal, intentional, and deeply collaborative – not corporate, rushed, or cookie-cutter.
Kristen and Mike built this company the same way they’ve built their life together – with complementary strengths, clear communication, and an obsession with doing things the right way. Kristen leads the creative vision as the interior designer, shaping spaces that feel elevated, functional, and unmistakably personal. Mike oversees the operational backbone – construction, finance, project management, and execution – ensuring every detail is handled with precision and accountability from start to finish.
Together, they bring decades of combined experience across design, construction, and business operations. That balance shows up in the way projects are planned, how decisions are guided, and how clients are cared for throughout the process. From the first conversation to the final walkthrough, every step is intentional, organized, and tailored to the people who will live in the space.
Built by Design has completed hundreds of remodels and earned recognition from publications like 435 Magazine, The Kansas City Star, and Country Living. But accolades aren’t the goal. What matters most is that clients feel heard, confident, and genuinely proud of the homes they create with us.
