Basement remodel

A basement retreat with a sauna

A sauna, wine display, and green lounge make room to gather and unwind.

A glass-front sauna creates a dedicated retreat within the finished lower level.
Wood walls and benches give the sauna a distinctly different atmosphere.

An everyday retreat

More than one way to switch off

The sauna is the defining feature, but this basement offers several ways to spend time downstairs. There’s a green lounge for a quiet evening, a wet bar for a drink with friends, and a separate gaming spot. Wood, dark vertical texture, and warm lighting give those different uses a shared identity.

01Wood + collection

Make the smaller spaces count

The sauna’s interior is a room of warm wood and simple lines. Nearby, wine storage follows the slope below the staircase. Both features give spaces outside the main lounge a specific purpose and a strong visual identity.

The open glass door shows the transition from the tiled entry to the wood-lined sauna.
The angled space beneath the stairs becomes an illuminated bottle display.

02The lounge

Green gives the room its mood

The long green wall introduces color without covering every surface in pattern. Warm sconces sit along it, and the dark screen wall adds vertical texture at the far end. A seating ledge behind the sofa provides another place to join the room.

Green walls and warm sconces give the lounge an inviting evening mood.
A close view shows how the warm sconces light the green wall above the seating.

03At the bar

Pattern, light, and a place to pause

The wet bar combines dark lower cabinets with a strongly patterned pale backsplash.

A backsplash with movement

The pale veining creates a strong backdrop for the wood shelves. Under-shelf light brings out the pattern and gives the bar a softer evening presence.

A small upholstered bench creates a tucked-away place to sit beside the bar.

A smaller seat at the gathering

The bench and table make an alternative to standing at the counter. They add a more intimate corner within the entertaining area.

04Carrying it through

Related details, different rooms

The bathroom repeats the green and warm metal notes. The gaming space picks up the black slats and wood shelving. Each room feels connected to the lounge while serving a different part of the day.

The bathroom echoes the lounge’s green and warm metal palette.
A separate gaming spot repeats the vertical texture of the main media wall.
