Basement remodel

Stone, wood, and room to play

Stone arches, warm wood, and a blue sectional frame this playful lower level.

The island connects the wet bar to the blue sectional and stone-framed screen wall.

Texture does the work

A basement with a strong sense of place

The stone arch and dark wood ceiling give this lounge an identity before you notice the furniture. A deep blue sectional then makes it feel comfortable and personal. Across the room, the wet bar repeats the stone and wood so the two main gathering areas belong together.

01The architectural detail

Frame the screen, then finish the ceiling

The wide stone surround gives the TV a defined place in the room. Overhead, the inset wood ceiling marks the seating area without enclosing it. Recessed lights and sconces add smaller points of light around those heavier materials.

Stone frames the screen, while the wood ceiling defines the lounge overhead.
From the seating side, the stone surround and wood ceiling read as two parts of the same lounge.

02Serving + play

Keep the active side within reach

The bar provides a place to serve while the game area gives people somewhere to move. Their shared palette makes the transition easy, but the difference in furniture and floor space keeps each activity legible.

Glass-front cabinets balance the darker wood, with light washing the stone below.
The game area has its own open floor space beyond the lounge.

03Close-up

Useful details behind the bigger gestures

Pale tile and dark shower framing bring the larger room’s contrast into the bath.

A crisp, compact bath

White tile and a black shower frame keep the bathroom visually simple. That restraint works well beside the stronger textures in the main basement.

Drawers, display cabinets, and drink refrigeration give the bar several kinds of storage.

More than display storage

The bar mixes drawers and cabinets with glass-front storage and undercounter refrigeration. Everyday supplies can have a place alongside the glassware.

04A final view

The softer side of stone and wood

The lounge's upholstered seating and patterned rug soften the architectural finishes. It's a space that can carry a crowd and still feel inviting for an ordinary night downstairs.

The blue sectional adds a clear color note to the stone-and-wood palette.
A straight-on view shows how the sconces and rug frame the blue sectional.
